Unlock endless fun in the sun with our resort’s array of water activities! Enjoy paddle boards, kayaks, canoes, and paddle boats, complete with life jackets, all included. Take a leap off our floating raft or bounce around on the water mat. Have a boat? Dock space is available. Cast a line or test your water skiing skills. Take adventure to the next level with our Pontoon rental for cruising or swimming and fishing boat for casting out a line.

From small fry to lunkers, minnows to trophy bass, you are sure to catch fish here. With over 3 miles of shoreline, there are many great fishing spots to discover.

Bass, Northern Pike, Crappie, and Sunfish thrive in Stocking Lake. Fish right off of the dock, out of your boat (or one of ours) or take off to local lakes for more serious outings. Interested in a guide service? We can put you in touch.

Nature walk, woods, and wildlife.

Take some time to explore nature right in our backyard. With a one-mile private driveway, 30 acres of towering pines and birch surrounding the resort, and many paths throughout, you can enjoy a nature walk no matter how far you care to hike.

Resort

Included in all rates is complimentary use of canoes, paddle boats, paddle boards, life jackets, yard games, water mat, diving raft, bicycles, and hiking trails. A laundry room is on-site for guest use ($2.50/load), as well as a fish-cleaning house. Sleeping Fawn Resort and Campground has a private boat launch and offers dock space for watercraft (space is limited).

Hiking, fishing, hunting, biking, canoeing, exploring, and more. Sleeping Fawn Resort and Campground is close to many parks and forests that offer many opportunities for exploration and activity.

  • Itasca State Park – Stand under towering pines at Preacher’s Grove, explore Wilderness Drive by car or bike, and wade across the Mississippi River as it begins its 2,552-mile journey to the Gulf of Mexico here in Minnesota’s oldest state park.
  • Paul Bunyan State Forest – Paul Bunyan State Forest’s hundreds of miles of trails among pine forests makes it one of premier state forest destinations for ATV and OHM enthusiasts.
  • Two Inlets State Forest – More than 26,000 acres ready to explore.
  • Heartland Trail – Minnesota’s first rail to trail system is a 48 mile multi use paved trail from Park Rapids to Walker and beyond.
  • Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge – This 43,000 acre Refuge is one of the nation’s premier sanctuaries for viewing birds and wildlife.
  • Lake Bemidji State Park – Explore this park’s tamarack bog in spring or summer to see some of Minnesota’s carnivorous plants. Swim, fish, and boat in the summer or ski and snowshoe in the winter. Naturalist-led activities take place year-round.

Shopping, Dining, and Attractions

Main street nostalgia and the relaxed, small town atmosphere of a bygone era await your visit. Each town features its own charm. Dorset is the restaurant capital of the world with more restaurants per capita than any city in the United States. Akeley is the birth place of the legendary Paul Bunyan. Nevis sports the largest Tiger Muskie statue at Muskie Park located right on the Heartland Trail. Emmaville is “The Biggest Little Town in the World”. There are many others within a half hour drive of Park Rapids‘ charming main street to seek out and explore. Some of the many area attractions:
